PADEL LEVELS EXPLAINED
Your padel level is useful. It is not universal.
Padel levels explained without context can be confusing. Playtomic, Nettla, the LTA and PadelLevels all describe playing standard differently, and even the same app rating can feel different from one local player pool to another.
Padel levels explained: why the numbers differ
There is no single conversion chart that makes every padel rating identical. Each system uses different evidence, and app ratings are shaped by the matches and players recorded within that system.
Playtomic padel levels explained
Starts with a questionnaire, then changes through competitive results, opponent and partner levels, and a reliability score. More recorded matches make the rating more stable.
Nettla
Uses confirmed match scores, how close the result was, the levels of partners and opponents, and a smaller contribution from player feedback.
LTA
Provides a descriptive 1.0–7.0 reference scale, from learning to keep the ball in play through to nationally ranked and professional standards.
PadelLevels
Builds a dynamic rating from match history and is designed to make a player’s level more portable across clubs and communities.
Why a Bristol rating may not feel the same in Swindon
A number is only as useful as the information behind it. Local playing pools, the volume of recorded competitive matches, reliability, self-assessment and club conventions can all affect what a rating represents in practice. A player carrying the same number at a Bristol club and a Swindon club may therefore meet noticeably different standards on court.
Use an app rating to find suitable games—but treat it as a moving estimate, not a permanent label or a universal certificate of ability.
Padel levels explained: the Coach Calli assessment
A Coach Calli assessment gives you a genuine on-court appraisal and a consistent local benchmark. It does not replace an official LTA ranking or an app’s own number. It explains what your current level looks like in real play and what will move it forward.
- Control, consistency and shot selection
- Court position, recovery and movement
- Serve, return, net transition and use of the glass
- Decision-making, partnership and match habits
You leave with a clear playing-level profile, priorities for improvement and guidance on the most suitable coaching and match environment.
Padel levels explained: quick answers
Is my Playtomic level the same as my LTA padel rating?
No. They use different methods and should not be converted as if they were identical.
Why does my level change between clubs?
The local player pool, recorded results, reliability and club conventions can change what the same label or number feels like on court.
Can Coach Calli give me an official ranking?
No. Calli provides an independent coaching assessment and consistent on-court benchmark, then explains how that relates to suitable matches and coaching.
What should I bring to an assessment?
Bring your usual playing kit and, if useful, your current app rating or examples of matches that have felt too easy or too difficult.
