Padel Backhand Volley: Stability & Direction

Build a backhand volley that can neutralise a fast ball or direct it into a safe attacking space. Keep the movement compact and avoid dropping the racket head.

Set up

Start at net. Receive balls to the backhand hip and aim into marked middle and cross-court zones.

Home practice

Use a mirror or phone for 15 slow shadow volleys: racket held in front, small shoulder turn and balanced base.

Key cues

Stay forward-facing.
Set the racket before the bounce.
Direct with the shoulder, not a large arm swing.

Progressions

Predictable feeds; mixed height; then live net exchanges with a target score.
